1 more day to go and it’s the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference 2013 in Houston! Over 16,000 people are expected to attend this annual event! It’s quite overwhelming and you may be at a loss on how to best connect and engage with your fellow attendees.
I’ve been fortunate to have attended multiple WPC events in the last few years and here are the 5 steps I learned on how to best engage with folks at WPC:
Step 1: Connect with Social Media
A lot of the real-time WPC13 updates and communications happens in social media specifically on Twitter. If you don’t have a Twitter account, go ahead and create one now. Then start following the official WPC account, the #WPC13 hashtag and if you like, follow me as well 😉 Also, check out the latest #WPC13 stats.
If you want to learn more on how to best maximize social media at #WPC13, check out this 15-min video I created for Microsoft Project Conference 2012:
Step 2: Setup your WPC Connect profile
With WPC connect, you can setup your profile and find out who else is attending. You can reach out to folks and schedule meetings at the event.
Step 3: Schedule sessions and see who’s attending
Once you’ve setup your WPC Connect profile, use the session and meeting scheduler to schedule sessions you want to attend. Even better, you can interact with the speaker and session attendees prior to the session directly on the session page:
I’d also like to invite you to attend some of the sessions that I am delivering:

Step 4: Network, network, network
There’s lots of great opportunities to meet and network! From the session rooms, to the dining hall and even the hallways. This year, you can even connect with fellow partners at the WPC13 Commons
Step 5: Participate in after hour activities
As you may already know, connecting with your fellow WPC13 attendees doesn’t end after the daily sessions end. There are a lot of after hour activities during WPC. I’d like to invite you to these after hour events:
Sun, Jul 7: 7pM-10pm WPC13 SharePint
