Free Download: SharePoint Assessment WBS & Project Schedule

At Innovative-e, whenever we engage in a SharePoint implementation project, we start off with an assessment phase where we identify key areas of an organization’s pain points and collaboratively engineer value point solutions.

I’d like to share the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and schedule that we use during this phase so you’ll get an idea of the tasks involved, resources required and necessary timeline to perform the assessment. This WBS is applicable to a small to mid size organization between 200-1000 people.

Feel free to download the Microsoft Project plan or the PDF version of it.

Once the assessment is completed, we deliver a report of our findings to our client. This report facilitates the development or completion of a business case to gain the appropriate funding and resources necessary for the actual SharePoint implementation.

Should the decision be to move forward, we can then be involved in the succeeding phases namely: SharePoint Project Planning, then SharePoint Implementation (installation and/or custom development) and then providing SharePoint Support & Maintenance if needed.

If you found this template useful, I invite you to join me as I facilitate a “Delivering SharePoint Success” mentoring workshop where I’ll teach you a practical and effective technique on successfully managing SharePoint projects. You’ll also receive relevant project templates, artifacts and materials around managing SharePoint projects. Click here for more details.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Hi, Susan – SharePoint is much more than a doc repository. It’s a great platform that pretty much it can be used to rapidly develop (not necessarily programming) business solutions on top of it.

Hi, do you happen to still have an example of the WBS for a sharepoint migration? The link in this post is now dead.
    thanks
